The judge asked Cosby where he got his passport from when he posted bail and where he currently lives. He drugged and sexually assaulted Andrea Constand in 2004. They can be sentenced to 10 years in prison in each case.
Mr. Cosby sat in his chair after the verdict was announced and stood quietly. Several women who have accused Mr. Cosby of abuse, and who attended the trial every day, cheered briefly, then fell silent. Judge Steven T. O'Neill praised the jurors, saying it was a "very difficult case," adding, "You made a lot of sacrifices, but you made sacrifices in the service of justice." In recent years, Mr. Cosby, 80, has admitted to decades of indiscretions and quality in an attempt to have sex with women, breaking his elevated profile as a moral public figure and perpetual paterfamilias in the desert. The popular 1980s and 90s sitcom "The Cosby Show". He did not testify in his own defence, avoiding incrimination over those admissions, but he and his lawyers have insisted his meeting with Miss Constand was part of a consensual affair, not an assault.
